Install

Five minutes, once. Your own Serato mapping stays as it is.

1. Download and install

Download VIIIAIN Helper for your Mac, open the file and click Install. The helper starts by itself — an icon appears in the menu bar. Updates install the same way and replace the old version.

2. Give three permissions

The setup assistant asks for Accessibility, Automation and Screen Recording. Each step has a button that opens the right System Settings page.

3. Quit Serato once

Serato reads MIDI mappings only when it starts. If Serato is open, quit it (⌘Q) and wait until it has fully closed — it saves your library on exit. In a few seconds the assistant shows a green check: the mapping is installed.

4. Open Serato

The assistant shows “Connected to Serato”.

5. Connect your iPhone or iPad

USB: just plug it in. Wi-Fi: keep the phone and the Mac on the same network, click Connect next to your device in the helper menu, then tap CONNECT on the phone.

If something doesn't work

Buttons on the phone do nothing

Quit Serato, wait 10 seconds, open it again. No need to reinstall the helper.

No Wi-Fi connection

On the phone open ⚙︎ → MACS ON WI-FI and tap USE next to this Mac. Still nothing — click Remove next to the device in the helper menu, then Connect again.

Your mapping and controller

VIIIAIN uses MIDI channels 9 and 11–15; everything else in your mapping stays. Your DJ controller keeps its own controls — the helper turns off “Allow Serato Hardware Remapping” for it once. Before every change the helper saves a dated copy to Music → _Serato_ → MIDI → VIIIAIN backups.
